BULOVA 

The Bulova Watch Company is a renowned American watchmaker with a rich history that spans over a century. The company was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova, a 23-year-old Czech immigrant, in New York City. Initially, Bulova focused on manufacturing and selling jewelry, including pocket watches. By 1911, the company began producing wristwatches, which were still considered relatively new at the time. By the 1920s, Bulova introduced various innovations that set them apart in the watch industry. 

In the 1970s, the Bulova Watch Company faced financial challenges and went through a series of ownership changes until 2008 when Citizen Watch Co. Ltd. of Japan purchased the Bulova Watch Company and formed the Citizen Watch America subsidiary. 

Today, Bulova continues to create a wide range of watches known for their precision, craftsmanship, and design. Their collections include both classic and contemporary styles, offering quartz, automatic, and precisionist movements. Bulova watches are celebrated for their quality and have remained a popular choice among watch enthusiasts worldwide.

This is a beautiful vintage Bulova "Ethel" ladies wristwatch, dated from 1945.

It is a manual wind watch powered by the original Bulova mechanical movement, caliber 6BC, featuring 17 jewels, unadjusted, a 40-hour power reserve, and 18,000 A/h, Swiss made.

The watch features an original silvered dial (showing some patina) with gold Arabic numerals, a black "railroad" minute track, and matching gold hands. The dial is also signed with the Bulova name/logo at the top.

Cased in a gorgeous two-tone 16.2mm tonneau case, it boasts a fancy lug design with two diamonds, one on each side, all in 10K gold-filled.

It comes with a gold-tone stainless steel flex bracelet, fitting a wrist up to 6 3/4" (17.2 cm), with the ability to stretch a couple of inches more.

This wristwatch is still in good condition. Runs very well and keeps great time!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size. 

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust the lighting, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.  

The condition is pre-owned.   
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
