In early 19th century, the two small towns La Chaux-de-Fonds and Granges (Switzerland) became the centers of Swiss watchmaking. In 1854, Racine was well-known family of watchmaking in Granges, playing an instrumental role in the development of mechanical watches.
In 1914, Ariste Racine and his wife Emma Blatt, established the company "Racine Eatch Co." in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The family name was already trademarked and unavailable for Ariste, so, it is when Emma had the smart idea to flip the family last name backward to become the timeless brand "Enicar", since then, the name has been recognized as a symbol of quality creating reliable and high-performance timepieces with "state-of-the-art technology, elegance and endurance".

In 1930, with Enicar name widely spread across European countries, the automatic waterproof collection successfully made its debut to the markets. And by 1946, the first chronograph model appeared for the first time in the market marked a prominent step to success.
After WWII, Enicar modernized and expanded production. The company boasted that their movements were cleaned in a laboratory, leading to the Ultrasonic brand found on many watches in the 1950's and 60's. By then, Enicar had began producing its own movements.
Enicar movements were quite accurate as well and that led to them received the first certification of accuracy in the 1950's from the renowned Neuchatel Observatory, the forerunner of C.O.S.C. (Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres - the institute responsible for certifying the accuracy and precision of Swiss watches). Nowadays, Enicar is one of the C.O.S.C.'s top 10 certified chronometer watch producers.
Today, more than a centennial, Enicar is more than a familiar name, but also entwines a story about success and precision. "As a watchmaker, Enicar values time and the implacable pursuit for transcendence."

"ULTRASONIC WAVES - at the service of the horologist"
This unique timepiece is a vintage Enicar Ultrasonic tank wristwatch dated from the 1960's. It is a manual wind watch caliber Enicar AR 1012, 17 jewels movement, sub-second, Swiss made.
It is a square (tank) case and fancy lugs design. Very unique two-tone dial with chess design, gold Arabic Numerals, applied hour marks and matching hands. The sub second is located at 6 and the dial is signed with the Enicar and Ultrasonic name and logo.
This watch is coming with a brand new brown two-pieces "Genuine Leather" strap.
It is a very good looking wristwatch. After 80 years, it is still an unique watch, it is in great condition, keeps good time and runs very well.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also somewhat smaller than today’s offerings in many cases. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
