ROCKFORD Trench Watch 1910

Regarded to possibly be among the top three in existence, this is a rare and excellent Rockford Watch Company Trench watch. It is powered by a Grade 164 movement, serial number 828235, and was in the first production run of four, in 1910. The run itself consisted of 400 pieces, with a total grade production of 2000 units. At this point in time, wristwatches were still very uncommon except for women or soldiers, and most all of these movements were cased in picket watch cases. This beauty is fitted in an off center SILVERODE Philadelphia Watch Case Co case.

While the records for Rockford Watch are indeed hard to come by, it’s my personal belief that this is one of an extremely small handful of Rockford off center Trench Watches to have ever existed, and may be among the last, if not THE last still in circulation. By no means is it a common, run of the mill timepiece

The case itself is in 9.5/10 condition The hand painted porcelain dial appears to be original and unmolested to my eye. The hands are lumed and still glow faintly.

The leather strap also appears to be original, and is still in very good condition for it’s apparent age.

It does run, and does keep time. The previous owner had it serviced within the last 4 years, and I have not personally serviced it.

All questions and respectful offers will be entertained. Please feel free to reach out, and thanks for looking!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than todays offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.

The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
See all the photos, feel free to ask questions if you have any.

It will be carefully packed.
